The distance between you and me : |

This project attempts to communicate the different feelings or emotions, which can alter, when elements are added to a landscape or cityscape. The transformation from an experience of isolation or personal insight of ones environment, experienced through contemplation of one's surroundings without people. To the involvement of people being in your surrounding environment and reminding oneself of the limitations we can place upon ourselves. The images demonstrate through landscapes how a feeling of solitude or sense of space can enhance the feeling of loneliness and alienation, if a person or man-made object suddenly enters the area of contemplation. The fact that the person or object is in the distance from the immediate environment can highlight the difficulty between one another and the apprehension of seeing and been seen, a weariness to be oneself and asserting oneself. This serves as a reminder of the different paths in life we follow, which alienate us through the limitations we place upon ourselves to maintain a manageable existence. This is equally relevant in more confined areas like cities where we avoid contact with other humans through body language and man-made objects, to escape our surroundings and people, an avoidance almost annoyance at each other. The project shows us of the boundaries we place upon ourselves through varying mental states, to deal with the complications and limits posed by our ability to adapt to our surroundings in life. |
