Glaston ache bury

Another glastonbury another way in !, this time I got in by working for a friends charity via a bigger fund raiser which runs all the industrial bars at glastonbury , the beer workers company.

There are a lot of downers when working near to the pyramid stage you have to listen to terrible bands whilst working, and I ended up working double the hours I thought I would work , ah ! But raising money for charity it was hard to say no !!

not that any of the customers knew what the charity was etc, apparently emily eavis wants a less political glastonbury and less information about charitable causes deemed political.

Yeh politics is the most depressing , hopeless , cynical privileged mess today ! But why become a lid dem or con dem about it and have no message , or hope !

Less political yes ! I don’t know anyone who respects or wants to know more about the current politics, but the less you engage the more they can fuck you over , what happens to people in society who are vulnerable or nieve oh yeh everytime they will be the first to be dumped over.

So politics moves to shangri-la and their subversive, brilliantly spelled out drug friendly billboards mocking former political ideals and daily advertising tricks, making them appear dark and normal.

Yes it is a celebration and is taken to the limit of hedonism , it is the best celebration of music and arts I have ever been to !

But lose a message for the people who don’t make the party fields (a lot of customers around the pyramid stage never make it to the party fields) then all the people will take home with them is a massive party.

But saying that, I also heard of a 7 year old boy watching the first few songs of the rolling stones , who had been going through the phase of thinking and worrying about death a lot , say to his mother after the gig ' when I was watching the gig I thought about death , but I thought Iam having such fun , I just don’t care about death anymore .

Here is a list of the uppers and downers from glastonbury 2013 I noticed when I wasn’t behind an industrial bar.

Uppers

anger is an energy , hearing johnny rotten sing the call

strummerville , the hangout, with no live music this year but great to see they have overcome some management problems and look set to continue their field of remembrance

downlow disco (block 9) dirty disco and transvestites at its best !, great vibe and loads of dancing

heaven and hell in shangri-la , whole thing amazing in every way

bar of ideas, great entrance and exit enter via a tunnel then get helped out by fellow revellers , then exit via a bank vault

heaven, didn’t get in obviously

pop skull , rocked it for about 30 people behind shangri-la hell stage

seeing a large family aged between 4 to 60 jump up and down to a song about sex by dizzie rascal

first song by nick cave , I heard whilst working , don’t know what it is called but amazing

the rave in the middle of Steve bedlam's common field, a masterpiece where the security was more lucid than the punters

stone circle , never wanted to leave the field !

Los arlimos bohemious

seagulls, showing through mass action that the morsels of our excess can be yours , from peoples sandwiches out of their hands to ripping rubbish bins open , their strength in a flock was inspiring !, to see them get what they want

Downers

- working

-red nose k day

tents ! The post glastonbury apocalyptic fields full of stuff left behind from whole tents , chairs, booze, etc with the security warning people not to take anything

not getting to see chic , bobby whomack , tom tom club, phoenix, and a host of others because of work

Mumford and sons , (dead before they hit the stage) had to work and hear these jokers !, their dry half hearted approach when they greeted glastonbury reminded me why middle England is such a ball ache. Their formulaic , public school boy approach to music is what you expect from the music industry a sort of coldplay with banjos , headlining sunday night pyramid stage , a passionless depressing sound , and to think last time I saw a sunday night headliner at pyramid stage it was stevie wonder !!

balloons, for a ten second rush there is a shit load of debris, ballache balloon

the amount of amputees walking around the site , I assume returning solders from our wars

waiting for a bus on the monday for 9 hours, the last to get a bus from our group and we didn’t get one, then it finally arrived after lots of mis information and indifference only to fall asleep and wake up seeing bristol on the horizon and not London, we had to change buses after that on the m4 and realised after 13 hours waiting / travelling we had managed to travel 20 miles from the glastonbury site. Next time I feel like a second class citizen I hope it is not waiting in a field for a bus at Glastonbury.
