Millwall F.A. cup runners up parade 2004

On May 22nd 2004 Millwall went to the Cardiff to play in the f.a. cup final for the first time against Manchester United, 27 league places separating the teams was evident as Man U won the game 3-0.

I heard Millwall were to parade through Lewisham town centre as a thank you to its fans and vice versa. This I wanted to see as I had never seen a team parade a town after losing an F.A. cup final.

It all started well with enthusiasm and spirit from the local fans, the bus carrying the team arrived and was greeted with excitement and uproar. As the barriers were hurdled and everyone got closer to the bus to see their heroes and future villains and get their shirts signed and shout and sing, The police tried to stop old and young a like to no avail apart from one man who thought I should leave this earth for taking pictures.

Then the mounted police came in, and the bus moved a bit then a bit more then it was off down Lewisham rd towards Catford with a crowd following, the rest of us went home.
